2023年11月15日這天，挪威大西洋航空 (Norse Atlantic Airways) 一架波音787客機首度降落南極，創下首架787客機和最大機體降落南極兩大新紀錄。該客機降落在南極特羅爾機場 (Troll Airfield)，機場跑道長3000公尺、寬60公尺，完全是由冰、雪砌成。本次降落挑戰在於沒有無線電導航系統引導飛機，機場也無法提供任何測量速度與方向的協助。當天機上總共搭載了45名挪威極地研究所科學家還有12噸的設備。

A Norse Atlantic Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner made history on November 15, 2023, becoming the first of its kind to land on the icy continent of Antarctica. The aircraft also set a new record for the largest plane to touch down in Antarctica. Navigating to Troll Airfield, a 3,000-meter-long, 60-meter-wide ice runway. The landing posed a significant challenge due to the absence of radio navigation systems to guide the aircraft and the airfield's inability to provide speed or direction measurements. The aircraft carried 45 Norwegian Polar Institute scientists and 12 tons of equipment.
