EVA Air Introduces Multi-Payment Options for In-Flight Shopping
EVA Air launched a multi-payment service for in-flight shopping on September 11, 2023. Passengers can now use chip credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. EVA Air is the first airline in Taiwan to offer in-flight mobile payment services.
EVA Air introduced the multi-payment service to make it easier for passengers to pay. Chip credit cards are more secure and difficult to counterfeit than traditional magnetic stripe credit cards. Mobile payments are also becoming more popular.
Processing payments in the air is more complex than on the ground. EVA Air overcame the challenges and received certification from banks and credit card companies. This means that passengers can have a faster and more secure shopping experience.
In the past, airlines could only verify payment information after the plane landed. This could not completely eliminate the risk of credit card fraud. EVA Air started using in-flight Wi-Fi in 2014 to establish a system for real-time credit card verification. This is the same as obtaining a single-transaction authorization on the ground. It provides greater security for both parties to the transaction.
