義大利座椅製造商 Aviointeriors 開發了一種叫做 Skyrider 2.0 的半站立式座椅,宣稱最快將於 2026 年出現在廉價航空航班上。這種座椅長得像自行車坐墊,附有軟墊設計,讓乘客在飛行途中可以用特定角度斜靠身體,而不是完全坐下。預計這種設計能讓飛機的載客量提升 20%,但也引發了人體工學和舒適度的爭議。

其實,航空公司對於壓低飛行成本一直都很有興趣。早在 2012 年,歐洲最大廉價航空公司瑞安航空(Ryan Air)的執行長歐萊利(Michael O'Leary)就曾提出過「站票」的概念。他構想在波音 737-800 型飛機上安裝半站立座椅搭配傳統座椅,以增加載客量。然而,目前還沒有航空公司正式宣布採用這樣的計畫。

所謂的站票,其實是一種可以折疊的垂直座椅,就像在電影院裡的座椅,坐下時放下,離開時自動彈起。這個點子最早是由飛機製造商空中巴士提出的。之所以有站票的構想,主要是因為在短程航班上,乘客對機上娛樂、零食或座椅舒適度的需求並不高,因此航空公司希望盡可能降低成本。

雖然美國聯邦航空管理局(FAA)並沒有強制規定乘客在飛行途中必須坐下,但關於這種垂直座椅的安全性仍存在很多疑慮,因此到目前為止,還沒有任何國家允許真正的飛機站票。

Passengers can lean on it at a specific angle instead of sitting down fully. It is expected that this design could increase the number of passengers by 20%. However, it has raised concerns about comfort and ergonomics.

Airlines have always been interested in cutting costs. As early as 2012, Michael O'Leary, the CEO of Europe’s largest budget airline Ryanair, proposed the idea of “standing tickets.” He suggested adding rows of semi-standing seats alongside regular seats on Boeing 737-800 planes to fit more passengers. But so far, no airline has officially announced plans to use this type of seat.

“Standing tickets” are actually foldable vertical seats, similar to seats in a movie theater that fold up automatically when not in use. The idea originally came from airplane manufacturer Airbus. The main reason airlines are considering this concept is that on short flights, passengers don’t care much about entertainment, snacks, or seat comfort, so airlines want to save as much money as possible.

Even though the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) does not strictly require passengers to sit down during flights, the safety of these vertical seats is still a big question. Currently, no country has approved real “standing tickets” for airplanes.

In recent years, airlines have been trying to squeeze more passengers into economy class by reducing seat space. This can lower ticket prices, but it also makes some passengers uncomfortable, forcing them to pay extra for more space or upgrade to regular economy or business class. Airlines also make money by charging for seat selection, luggage, meals, and other services. Using cabin space effectively has become one of the most important ways for airlines to make a profit.
