EGAT serves over 40 airlines worldwide, including Delta Air Lines, Vietnam Airlines, and Garuda Indonesia. The company is also developing maintenance capabilities for new aircraft types like the B737 MAX and A350 to meet changing market demands. EGAT ranks among the world’s top 10 professional aircraft maintenance companies, attracting maintenance business from around the globe.
The story of EGAT’s founding traces back to the late Evergreen Group founder, Chang Yung-Fa. Chang started in the shipping industry as a young seafarer and learned that a well-maintained cargo ship requires thorough and reliable maintenance. When founding EVA Air, he believed that maintaining aircraft in-house ensured better safety, so he established the Maintenance Division. After studying leading international aircraft maintenance companies, he invested more than NT$3 billion to build a top-level maintenance center. EVA Air is known for its excellent safety record, thanks in part to its close relationship with EGAT. EGAT fully maintains all aircraft operated by EVA Air and UNI Air, tracking each plane’s condition and deciding which aircraft are ready for operation.
EGAT is also a key supplier of major aircraft structures to Boeing, providing full-process production services for various aircraft parts. Boeing recognizes EGAT as an important supplier partner for both maintenance and manufacturing. In May 2025, EGAT signed a cooperation agreement with Airbus, becoming a Tier-1 supplier of aircraft structures and building a direct partnership in both business and manufacturing technology.
EGAT has also invested in related industries with promising futures. It co-founded Chang Drill Technology with Aimler Vehicle Power and HuiZuan Technology to provide surface chemical treatment for electric vehicle components. Although automotive parts do not require the same strict certifications as the aerospace industry, they must still be approved by the original car manufacturers. EGAT mainly collaborates with Japanese and European car brands.
