私人飛機一直是金字塔頂端富豪的標配，近年來隨著疫情的影響，以及全球經濟的發展，私人飛機的市場也逐漸擴大到企業高層等群體。在台灣，私人飛機市場也呈現增長的趨勢。
根據國際航空數據業者 WINGX 的統計，2023 年全球新增 700 多架私人飛機，短程航班的私人飛機使用量增加 7%。國際航空顧問業者 PJCC 的報告則指出，43% 的私人飛機會員卡受訪者表示將持續定期搭乘私人飛機。
台灣私人飛機的使用主要集中在商務出差。企業家購買私人飛機的主要原因包括節省時間、航線靈活和保密性高。
- 節省時間：可以根據自己的時間安排飛行，不受商業航班的限制。在很多情況下，客人甚至不需要進入候機大廈，而是豪華轎車直接開到停機坪的飛機前面登機。
- 航線靈活：可以直飛目的地，避免轉機的麻煩。不過也須留意在一些國家和地區，私人飛機的飛行可能受到限制。
- 保密性高：提供專屬的登機和機上服務，可以保護隱私。
然而，養一架私人飛機的成本高，包括維護保養、聘請飛行員、承租停機位等都是固定支出；《民用航空法》更嚴格規定，航空器不管有無飛行，每年都必須定期維修，而按大小型號飛行時數所產生的支出也有所不同，每年初估一億新台幣是基本門檻。
也因此私人飛機租賃變成了另一個商機。擁有私人飛機的鴻海集團創辦人郭台銘，也在2010年成立華捷航空對外提供私人包機服務；其後力晶集團創辦人黃崇仁也加入市場搶商機，都讓私人飛機市場更熱鬧。
